How to Sign into the Office 365 Portal, Open a Shared Mailbox and Update your password.

Step 1) Please click the following link,Office 365 Portal // Office.com 

  • By clicking the link above, this will begin opening your default browser. (SLAM IT recommends: Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari from a computer rather than a smart phone/tablet device and to install the mobile/smart phone application instead of using your smart phone browser[The views would be very small]).

Step 2) You will then see a similar window below:

  • This next image is where SLAM IT prefers you enter in your Network ID = First Initial Lastname@slam.org
    • (i.e. CLAUDE MONET = CMONET@SLAM.org  // EDGAR DEGAS = EDEGAS@SLAM.org // BOB ROSS = BROSS@SLAM.org )
  • When you have entered a valid and active SLAM account, your webpage will change to display the S.L.A.M. background at the password screen seen in Figure 2 below.

Step 3) Type your most recent password here and proceed to press/click “Sign In/Enter” (If you have updated this password within the last 30 minutes, please allow the full 30 minutes for the automatic sync to complete first before attempting again).

Step 4) Please choose either option to continue to the next step. (SLAM IT Security Policy recommends never saving your passwords in a browser).

Step 5) This next image is a home page after a successful login. (Key areas in this screen shot are on the left side; marked in Red from top to bottom read as: Home button, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneDrive).

Step 6) At the top right area of the browser window circled in RED, the Gear Icon and your Profile button, you will find more options to your Office 365 Account.

  • Gear/Settings Icon: This area will not show the “View all Outlook settings” unless you open Outlook first and THEN click on the Gear/Settings Icon (Circled in Figure 5 and 6).
    • Figure #5 underlines where you are able to update your password
    • Password updates will take up to 30 minutes to sync with the local servers on-site (DayForce, Outlook, MS Teams, OneDrive, Computer Login, etc. may not be available during this time).

  • Viewing all Outlook settings, Figure 6, (Key areas marked in RED) =
    • Compose and Reply - Signature (Does not sync with the desktop client)
    • Rules - Created in O365 AND on the Desktop client (Does sync with the desktop client)
    • Forwarding - Allows forwarding SLAM email account to another SLAM email account (SLAM IT Policy restricts from forwarding to external email account. Please contact Philip Deleel for any questions regarding this SLAM IT Policy).
    • Automatic replies - Internal AND External Out-of-Office message

Step 7) Log Out/Sign out when finished!

KEYNOTES!

  • Or if you are needing to “Open another mailbox” to gain access to a Shared mailbox OR another SLAM Employee’s email account who has granted permissions to you.

  • All passwords expire after 90 calendar days but can be updated at any time.
  • The “Change your password” feature does take up to 30 minutes to fully sync your new password information so immediate access to your DayForce, Outlook, OneDrive will not be available. 
  • Locked accounts will automatically unlock after 10 minutes from the last login attempt.
  • This process is very similar to the mobile version (Please contact SLAM IT for further assistance).
