Using Microsoft Teams on the Web

To use Microsoft Teams on the web,go to https://portal.office.com from your favorite web browser and press enter.

If you are currently signed out or have never logged into this site,it will look like the image below. Use your network ID to sign in (for most users this is first initial, last name I.e.:Mickey Mouse would be mmouse@slam.org) and click “Next.”

Next you will be asked to enter your password. Enter your password and click “Sign in.”

You may see this pop up after clicking “sign in.”Checking the box and clicking yes will reduce the amount of times you have to enter your password.

You will now be at the landing page for the Office portal. It will look similar to the image below:

Find the Teams icon and click. This will open a new tab for Teams.

To start a chat, find “Chat” on the left side of the page.

Right click on the icon and select “New Chat.”

In the top of the window, just below the browser address bar enter the name of the person you want to chat with.

After you find the person and press enter,the window will look like the following if you’ve never had a chat with this person before.

In the bottom of this window, type your message and press enter or click on the send icon to send the message. 

 

In the top-right corner you can change the chat to a voice or video chat by clicking on the appropriate icon. The camera will be both video and audio. The phone will be audio only.

If you need to add additional people to the chat,click on   and add them.
