Overview/Introduction
SLAM staff members and volunteers will have the benefit of using the Dayforce mobile app to punch in/out as well as monitor TAFW requests, view balances, see schedules, see and edit their basic information, and more.
Details
As with using a PC, “Single Sign-On” is available, allowing you to access resources using your centrally managed username and password. This will be established in your app setup (below). Your permissions and credentials are checked against a central authority.
Volunteers will use “native” authentication. This setup requires different instructions.
Key terms:
- SSO= single sign-on
- WFM= workforce management
- TAFW= time away from work
- Geofencing= a virtual perimeter around the SLAM building to prevent punching from offsite
Requirements:
- Account at SLAM, i.e. you can log on to a PC on the SLAM network
- You must be inside the geofenced area to punch. You can otherwise access your profile and information from anywhere you have a cellular or wifi connection.
- You must allow location services on your phone to use the punch feature. A message on your device will ask for this permission during installation or at the time the clock component of the app is used.
Detailed Instructions for Android
Visit the Google Play store and search for “dayforce hcm”. The app you want will show it is published by Dayforce and include their distinct blue “D” logo. If it does not, do not install. Otherwise, proceed.

Upon installation, the screen will change to the Dayforce app. If not, open the app. You are presented a screen to set up your account. Click the “+” symbol.
Select “OK” if an advisory pops up.

On the next screen, enter slam as the company id and select Single Sign-On (SSO). Save and continue, at which point the company id will be verified. When it finishes, the app screen will display your login button.

Upon login, you will be redirected to the Microsoft cloud for verification. Dayforce will check your rights against your SLAM credentials.
- This login is NOT your email address. Log in just as you would to access OneDrive, your email, etc., in the Microsoft cloud. This IS your computer login name + “@slam.org”, and your computer password. Example:
- Jane Doe has an account on our network.
- Her email is jane.doe@slam.org.
- Her username is jdoe on computers. In the Microsoft cloud, her user name is jdoe@slam.org.

You may choose to have the app remember your Microsoft authentication. You may or may not have to re-enter your credentials in the near future, e.g. you clear your browser’s cache or change your password

You are now returned to the Dayforce mobile app. In the menu (top-left corner) you can select your role, if applicable, such as:
Employee with WFM
- You are not a manager or not wearing your manager hat. You simply want to request time off as an employee
- You need to change your address
- You need to look at a earnings statement
Manager with WFM
- You’re a manager and need to check TAFW requests for approval.
- You’re a manager and need to approve timesheets
With multiple roles, a small arrow beside your currently selected role will indicate your current posture. Outside the menu, you will have the ability to swipe left and right to access other roles as well. When changing, your available menu options will reflect the current role’s permissions such as with seeing others’ TAFW requests.

Remember: if prompted, you must allow location services to run for the Dayforce app in order to use the punch feature.
