Overview/Introduction
Many of us are using SLAM devices that utilize a Dock for connecting to power, peripherals, and network when we are in the office. At home we generally use wifi connectivity and power cables. Sometimes the back and forth and differing connections cause problems in either location with connectivity to “the” network.

Anytime you move from one location to another, shut down your laptop/device (Start Menu, Power, Shutdown). Leaving your machine running and then connecting to other networks will likely cause problems.
When arriving in the office or at home after being in the opposite location for one or more days, power up your machine. Once you’ve arrived at the login screen, reboot your machine (Start Menu, Power, Restart).
If at home and using Direct Access (all SLAM issued devices use this connection method), please follow the guidelines in this document for steps to connect to wifi, Direct Access, and log into the SLAM network remotely.
If in the office, and connecting via a Dock, it is important that you disable your wifi antenna. We have found that while devices connect to the hardwire network when “docked,” they can also be connected to SLAM wifi and the two tend to run over each other.
From time to time, your dock may stop responding or providing connectivity. One indicator is that your monitor(s) goes out or dark. Another indicator may be that your mouse stops responding. In either case, wait 2-3 minutes to see if the problem self resolves. If not, disconnect your power/data cable from your device (not the dock) for 5-10 seconds and reconnect.
